POLY-ANA56 TECHNOLOGY
Official report from Dimacom Labs:
The ASTM D570 test method is employed to determine the water absorption of plastics, including breathable UV Gel Polishes such as “Napolay.” Napolay is a unique polish featuring the patented chemical POLY-ANA56, allowing moisture to permeate through up to three coats of application. This study aims to scientifically evaluate the water absorption characteristics of Napolay using ASTM D570 guidelines, ensuring its performance and reliability in real-world scenarios.
Testing Apparatus:
ASTM D570-98 Standard Test Method for Water Absorption of Plastics: This method was followed meticulously to maintain consistency and accuracy in the testing process.
Precision Balance: Accurate measurement of samples’ mass was crucial for determining water absorption percentages.
Closed Environment: Testing was conducted in a controlled environment with a constant temperature of 23°C (±2°C) and relative humidity of 50% (±5%) to adhere to ASTM D570 standards.
Sample Preparation:
Napolay samples were prepared according to manufacturer specifications, ensuring uniformity in thickness and application across all specimens. Three replicate samples were tested to ensure the reliability of the results.
Standard Control Experiments:
Control experiments were performed with known materials to validate the testing apparatus and procedures, ensuring that the equipment was functioning within the specified parameters. These control experiments helped in calibrating the results obtained from the Napolay samples.
Testing Procedure:
The Napolay samples were conditioned at 23°C and 50% relative humidity until a constant mass was achieved, as per ASTM D570 guidelines.
Initial mass (M1) of each sample was recorded with the precision balance.
Samples were immersed in distilled water maintained at 23°C for a predetermined period.
After the immersion period, excess water was gently wiped off, and the samples were re-weighed to obtain the final mass (M2).
Water absorption was calculated using the formula:
Water Absorption (%)=(M1(M2−M1))×100
Results and Analysis:
The water absorption testing of Napolay Breathable UV Gel Polish yielded consistent and reliable results across the three replicate samples. The average water absorption percentage was calculated along with the standard deviation to ensure the accuracy of the findings.
Average Water Absorption=Number of samples/Sum of individual water absorption percentages
Conclusion:
The Napolay Breathable UV Gel Polish, incorporating the patented chemical POLY-ANA56, exhibited excellent water absorption characteristics, as demonstrated by the ASTM D570 testing. The average water absorption percentage, along with the calculated standard deviation, confirms the reliability and consistency of the results. These findings indicate that Napolay is well-suited for applications where breathable, water-permeable UV gel polish is required, meeting the necessary quality and performance standards.
